Château Lalaudey - Moulis

Another Winner From The Owner of Château Mongravey!
The appellation of Moulis is relatively small less than 600 hectares or roughly 1500 acres. The wines grown in the gravel area are reminiscent of the finesse of Margaux plus the power and complexity of Saint-Julien.

M. Régis Bernaleau gives this small estate the same care as his other properties Châteaux Braude and Mongravey. This vineyard is planted to 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot on gravely soil. After hand harvesting, the grapes are sorted and de-stalked before traditional fermentation in stainless thermo-regulated tanks, with skin contact for about 20 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine spends 8 months in oak barrels, one-third of which are new.

The color is an intense, deep ruby. This has excellent Cabernet fruit, a bit of vanilla and pain grillé aromas, cassis and black fruit flavors and a long finish. The tannins are well integrated due to good amount of Merlot. If you’ve had the Château Mongravey, you know what we mean when we say “this is a big wine for the money.”
